Qualifiche combattute e dai distacchi minimi per REDS Fantic Racing sul Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, quarto appuntamento del Mondiale Moto2.
La giornata di sabato si era aperta con indicazioni positive nelle FP2 del mattino, disputate in condizioni di bagnato: Tony Arbolino ha chiuso al primo posto, confermando un ottimo feeling sul bagnato e in condizioni di poco grip, mentre Barry Baltus ha ottenuto la terza posizione, molto vicino al compagno di squadra e a sua volta a proprio agio in queste condizioni.
In Q1 Arbolino ha proseguito il lavoro in maniera positiva, mostrando una buona velocità e conquistando l'accesso al Q2 grazie al quarto tempo.
In Q2, in una sessione estremamente equilibrata con ben 15 piloti racchiusi in meno di otto decimi, Baltus ha confermato la propria competitività soprattutto nel primo run, mantenendosi stabilmente in top 3. Nel secondo tentativo, però, non è riuscito a mettere insieme il giro perfetto, chiudendo comunque in ottava posizione con il tempo di 1'39"433.
Sessione più complicata invece per Arbolino, che dopo il passaggio dalla Q1 non è riuscito a trovare il feeling ideale per esprimersi al meglio nel time attack, terminando quattordicesimo in 1'39"806.
I due piloti REDS Fantic Racing scatteranno così dalla terza e dalla quinta fila nella gara di domani, con il team fiducioso in vista di una gara che si preannuncia molto combattuta.
A hard-fought qualifying session with minimal gaps for REDS Fantic Racing at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, round four of the Moto2 World Championship.
Saturday morning began with positive indications in FP2, held in wet conditions: Tony Arbolino finished in first place, confirming excellent feeling in the wet and low-grip conditions, while Barry Baltus finished third, close to his teammate and equally comfortable in these conditions.
In Q1, Arbolino continued working positively, showing good pace and securing passage to Q2 with the fourth-fastest time.
In Q2, in an extremely tight session with 15 riders covered by less than eight tenths, Baltus confirmed his competitiveness especially in the first run, consistently staying in the top 3. In the second attempt, however, he couldn't put together the perfect lap, finishing in eighth position with a time of 1'39.433.
It proved a more challenging session for Arbolino, who after progressing from Q1 couldn't find the ideal feeling to express his best in the time attack, finishing fourteenth with a 1'39.806.
The two REDS Fantic Racing riders will start from the third and fifth rows in tomorrow's race, with the team confident heading into what promises to be a hard-fought race.

La journée du samedi avait débuté avec des indications positives en FP2 le matin, disputées sous la pluie : Tony Arbolino a terminé en première position, confirmant un excellent feeling sur le mouillé et en conditions de faible adhérence, tandis que Barry Baltus a obtenu la troisième place, très proche de son coéquipier et tout aussi à l'aise dans ces conditions.
En Q1, Arbolino a poursuivi le travail de manière positive, montrant un bon rythme et décrochant le passage en Q2 grâce au quatrième temps.
En Q2, dans une session extrêmement serrée avec 15 pilotes en moins de huit dixièmes, Baltus a confirmé sa compétitivité surtout lors du premier run, se maintenant régulièrement dans le top 3. Lors de la seconde tentative cependant, il n'a pas réussi à assembler le tour parfait, terminant en huitième position avec le temps de 1'39"433.
Session plus compliquée pour Arbolino, qui après le passage par le Q1 n'a pas trouvé le feeling idéal pour s'exprimer au mieux dans le time attack, terminant quatorzième en 1'39"806.
Les deux pilotes REDS Fantic Racing s'élanceront donc depuis la troisième et la cinquième ligne pour la course de demain, l'équipe étant confiante en vue d'une course qui s'annonce très disputée.

"Non è la posizione che volevamo dopo un weekend in cui siamo stati costantemente tra i primi tre. Ci aspettavamo qualcosa in più e di poter lottare per le posizioni di vertice, quindi c'è un po' di rammarico. Detto questo, il passo c'è. Già da ieri siamo tra i più veloci, la fiducia è alta e credo che sia la moto sia io siamo pronti per lottare per la vittoria. Il team ha fatto un ottimo lavoro, ora dobbiamo solo concentrarci sulla gara. Non vedo l'ora di essere in griglia domani e vedere cosa riusciremo a fare."
"It's not the position we wanted after a weekend where we've consistently been in the top three. We expected something more and to be able to fight for the top positions, so there's a bit of disappointment. That said, the pace is there. Since yesterday we've been among the fastest, confidence is high and I believe both the bike and I are ready to fight for the win. The team has done a great job, now we just need to focus on the race. I can't wait to be on the grid tomorrow and see what we can do."
"Ce n'est pas la position que nous voulions après un week-end où nous avons été constamment dans le top 3. Nous espérions quelque chose de plus et pouvoir lutter pour les premières positions, donc il y a un peu de déception. Cela dit, le rythme est là. Depuis hier nous sommes parmi les plus rapides, la confiance est élevée et je crois que la moto et moi sommes prêts à lutter pour la victoire. L'équipe a fait un excellent travail, maintenant il faut juste se concentrer sur la course. J'ai hâte d'être sur la grille demain et de voir ce que nous pourrons faire."

Barry è riuscito a restare un po' più avanti, mentre Tony ha comunque provato fino alla fine senza trovare le condizioni ideali per esprimersi al meglio. Guardiamo con fiducia alla gara: il passo c'è e l'obiettivo è giocarci posizioni importanti con entrambi i piloti."

In Q2 it wasn't easy to put together a completely clean lap, also due to traffic and the very high level of competition on track.
