Il Gran Premio delle Americhe si chiude con un doppio piazzamento a punti per REDS Fantic Racing, al termine di una gara complessa e ricca di colpi di scena sul Circuit of The Americas.
Dopo le qualifiche del sabato, che avevano visto Barry Baltus conquistare la pole position a seguito della penalizzazione inflitta a David Alonso, il team si presentava al via con grandi ambizioni, con Tony Arbolino tredicesimo in griglia e pronto a una gara in rimonta.
La corsa è stata interrotta dopo poche centinaia di metri da una bandiera rossa causata da una maxi-caduta in curva 11, innescata da un contatto che ha coinvolto diversi piloti, tra cui Garcia, Alonso, Salac, Muñoz, Veijer e Piqueras, oltre allo stesso Ferrandez. Il pilota spagnolo Angel Piqueras ha riportato la frattura del femore sinistro: a lui e a tutti i piloti coinvolti vanno i migliori auguri di pronta guarigione.
La gara è poi ripartita sulla distanza ridotta di 10 giri, mantenendo la griglia originale. Baltus, insieme ad altri piloti, ha dovuto scontare un long lap penalty durante la corsa.
Allo start il belga ha mostrato subito grande velocità, portandosi in testa alla gara. Dopo aver scontato la penalità al quinto giro, è rientrato in sesta posizione, mantenendola fino al traguardo con un passo solido e competitivo.
Dall'altra parte del box, Arbolino ha disputato una gara concreta, riuscendo a entrare in top 10 nel corso della seconda metà e chiudendo decimo, conquistando punti importanti al termine di un weekend in crescita.
REDS Fantic Racing lascia Austin con indicazioni positive sul potenziale espresso in gara e con la consapevolezza di poter continuare a crescere nei prossimi appuntamenti. Il prossimo round è in programma a fine aprile a Jerez de la Frontera.
The Grand Prix of the Americas ends with a double points finish for REDS Fantic Racing, after a dramatic and incident-filled race at the Circuit of The Americas.
Following Saturday's qualifying, which saw Barry Baltus secure pole position after a penalty for David Alonso, the team lined up on the grid with high expectations, while Tony Arbolino started from 13th, ready to fight his way forward.
The race was stopped after just a few hundred metres due to a red flag caused by a major crash at Turn 11, triggered by an incident involving several riders, including Garcia, Alonso, Salac, Muñoz, Veijer and Piqueras, as well as Ferrandez. Spanish rider Angel Piqueras suffered a fracture to his left femur. We send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to all riders involved.
The race was then restarted over a reduced distance of 10 laps, with the original grid maintained. Baltus, along with other riders, had to serve a long lap penalty during the race.
At the restart, the Belgian immediately showed strong pace, taking the lead of the race. After serving the penalty on lap five, he rejoined in sixth position, which he maintained until the chequered flag with a solid and consistent performance.
On the other side of the garage, Arbolino delivered a consistent race, breaking into the top 10 in the second half and finishing tenth, collecting valuable points at the end of a weekend of steady progress.
REDS Fantic Racing leaves Austin with positive signs in terms of race pace and the awareness that there is still room for further improvement. The next round will take place at the end of April in Jerez de la Frontera.
Le Grand Prix des Amériques se conclut par un double résultat dans les points pour REDS Fantic Racing, au terme d'une course dramatique et riche en incidents au Circuit of The Americas.
Après les qualifications du samedi, qui avaient vu Barry Baltus décrocher la pole position suite à la pénalité infligée à David Alonso, l'équipe se présentait sur la grille avec de grandes ambitions, tandis que Tony Arbolino partait treizième, prêt à remonter.
La course a été interrompue après quelques centaines de mètres par un drapeau rouge causé par une chute massive au virage 11, déclenchée par un contact impliquant plusieurs pilotes, dont Garcia, Alonso, Salac, Muñoz, Veijer et Piqueras, ainsi que Ferrandez. Le pilote espagnol Angel Piqueras a subi une fracture du fémur gauche : nos meilleurs vœux de prompt rétablissement vont à tous les pilotes impliqués.
La course a ensuite repris sur une distance réduite de 10 tours, avec la grille d'origine maintenue. Baltus, ainsi que d'autres pilotes, a dû effectuer un long lap penalty pendant la course.
Au redémarrage, le Belge a immédiatement montré un rythme soutenu, prenant la tête de la course. Après avoir purgé sa pénalité au cinquième tour, il est revenu en sixième position, qu'il a maintenue jusqu'à l'arrivée avec une performance solide et compétitive.
De l'autre côté du garage, Arbolino a disputé une course concrète, parvenant à entrer dans le top 10 dans la seconde moitié et terminant dixième, marquant des points importants au terme d'un week-end en progression.
REDS Fantic Racing quitte Austin avec des signaux positifs sur le potentiel exprimé en course et la certitude de pouvoir continuer à progresser lors des prochaines manches. Le prochain round est programmé fin avril à Jerez de la Frontera.

"Non è il risultato che volevamo. Oggi mi sentivo davvero forte e avevamo il passo per stare davanti, ma il long lap penalty non mi ha permesso di lottare per il podio, soprattutto in una gara così corta da 10 giri. Dobbiamo comunque prendere gli aspetti positivi di questo weekend: il feeling con la moto era davvero buono e il team ha fatto un lavoro incredibile. Voglio anche mandare un grande in bocca al lupo a tutti i piloti coinvolti nell'incidente, sperando stiano bene. Ora guardiamo avanti: tra tre settimane avremo un'altra grande opportunità a Jerez. Continuiamo a lavorare così."

Today I felt really strong and we had the pace to fight at the front, but the long lap penalty didn't allow me to go for the podium, especially in such a short 10-lap race. We have to take the positives from this weekend: the feeling with the bike was really good and the team did an amazing job. I also want to send my best wishes to all the riders involved in the incident and hope they are all okay. Now we look ahead: in three weeks we'll have another big opportunity in Jerez. Aujourd'hui je me sentais vraiment fort et nous avions le rythme pour nous battre devant, mais le long lap penalty ne m'a pas permis de lutter pour le podium, surtout dans une course aussi courte de 10 tours. Il faut quand même prendre les aspects positifs de ce week-end : le feeling avec la moto était vraiment bon et l'équipe a fait un travail incroyable. Je veux aussi envoyer mes meilleurs vœux à tous les pilotes impliqués dans l'incident et j'espère qu'ils vont bien. "È stata una gara un po' particolare, come si è visto. Il ritmo non era così male, anche se mi è mancato un po' di feeling. Abbiamo però capito che in alcuni punti dobbiamo accettare meno comfort per riuscire a performare meglio in futuro. Continuiamo a crescere passo dopo passo. Sono anche contento che, considerando la dinamica dell'incidente al primo giro, non ci siano state conseguenze serie. Ora testa alla prossima."
