Qualifica ricca di colpi di scena per REDS Fantic Racing al Circuit of The Americas, terzo appuntamento della stagione Moto2.
Dopo un venerdì positivo, che aveva visto entrambi i piloti ottenere l'accesso diretto al Q2, il sabato si era aperto con segnali incoraggianti anche nelle FP2, con Tony Arbolino autore del miglior tempo e Barry Baltus quinto, a conferma della competitività del pacchetto.
In qualifica, Baltus ha concretizzato il lavoro svolto centrando il secondo tempo e conquistando inizialmente la prima fila. In seguito alla penalizzazione inflitta a David Alonso, il pilota belga guadagna una posizione e scatterà dalla pole position nella gara di domenica. Un risultato importante, che premia il lavoro del team e conferma il potenziale espresso durante tutto il weekend.
Sessione più complicata invece per Arbolino, che non è riuscito a sfruttare al meglio le proprie possibilità anche a causa di una strategia non ottimale e di alcune condizioni sfavorevoli nel corso del turno. L'italiano ha chiuso in quattordicesima posizione, diventata tredicesima dopo la penalità, e sarà chiamato a una gara in rimonta.
Il team guarda ora alla gara con fiducia, forte del passo mostrato e con la consapevolezza di poter essere competitivo su una pista tecnica ed esigente come quella texana.
A dramatic qualifying session for REDS Fantic Racing at the Circuit of The Americas, round three of the Moto2 season.
Following a positive Friday that saw both riders secure direct passage to Q2, Saturday morning brought further encouraging signs in FP2, with Tony Arbolino topping the timesheets and Barry Baltus finishing fifth, underlining the competitiveness of the package.
In qualifying, Baltus delivered on the weekend's promise by setting the second-fastest time to initially secure a front-row start. Following a penalty handed to David Alonso, the Belgian rider moves up one position and will start Sunday's race from pole position. A significant result that rewards the team's hard work and confirms the potential shown throughout the weekend.
It proved a more challenging session for Arbolino, who was unable to maximise his potential due to a less-than-ideal strategy and unfavourable circumstances during the session. The Italian finished in fourteenth place, promoted to thirteenth after the penalty, and faces a recovery ride on Sunday.
The team now looks ahead to the race with confidence, buoyed by the pace shown and the knowledge that they can be competitive on a technical and demanding circuit like COTA.

Après un vendredi positif qui avait vu les deux pilotes obtenir l'accès direct au Q2, le samedi avait débuté avec des signaux encourageants en FP2, avec Tony Arbolino auteur du meilleur temps et Barry Baltus cinquième, confirmant la compétitivité de l'ensemble.
En qualifications, Baltus a concrétisé le travail accompli en signant le deuxième temps et en décrochant initialement la première ligne. Suite à la pénalité infligée à David Alonso, le pilote belge gagne une position et s'élancera depuis la pole position pour la course de dimanche. Un résultat important qui récompense le travail de l'équipe et confirme le potentiel exprimé tout au long du week-end.
Session plus compliquée en revanche pour Arbolino, qui n'a pas réussi à exploiter au mieux ses possibilités en raison d'une stratégie non optimale et de circonstances défavorables en cours de session. L'Italien a terminé quatorzième, promu treizième après la pénalité, et devra mener une course en remontée.
L'équipe regarde désormais vers la course avec confiance, forte du rythme affiché et de la certitude de pouvoir être compétitive sur un circuit technique et exigeant comme celui du Texas.

"Mi sento abbastanza bene. Quando entriamo nel ritmo giusto riusciamo a essere competitivi e sono molto contento di essere tornato davanti. Abbiamo lavorato tanto con il team per capire cosa non aveva funzionato nel primo run e penso che abbiamo trovato la direzione giusta. Questo risultato è frutto del lavoro fatto insieme. Nel finale stavo spingendo molto, ero vicino al tempo della pole e ho forzato un po' troppo in frenata. Mi dispiace per la caduta, ma sono comunque molto soddisfatto del lavoro fatto. Ora partiamo dalla pole e daremo tutto in gara."

We worked hard with the team to understand what wasn't working in the first run, and I think we found the right direction. This result is the fruit of all the work we've done together. Nous avons beaucoup travaillé avec l'équipe pour comprendre ce qui n'avait pas fonctionné lors du premier run, et je pense que nous avons trouvé la bonne direction. Ce résultat est le fruit du travail accompli ensemble. À la fin je poussais très fort, j'étais proche du temps de la pole et j'ai un peu trop forcé au freinage. "È stato un sabato un po' strano. La mattina è andata abbastanza bene, ma nel pomeriggio abbiamo sbagliato strategia e non ci siamo capiti al meglio. Le due bandiere gialle in pochi giri hanno sicuramente condizionato la sessione, quindi non è stato il massimo. Abbiamo comunque capito dove migliorare e ora ci aspetta una gara impegnativa, che affronteremo con determinazione."
"It was a bit of a strange Saturday. The morning went reasonably well, but in the afternoon we got the strategy wrong and there was some miscommunication. The two yellow flags within a few laps definitely affected the session, so it wasn't ideal. We've understood where to improve and now we have a tough race ahead, which we'll face with determination."
